Captain Robert McDaniel


bob profile pictureBob is originally from Florida where he instructed and dived for the Orange county Sheriff’s office Marine Patrol, fighting crime and saving lives for 20 years. He set up Oceans Unlimited in 2005 and is now enjoying the life style of PADI Dive Instructor, Dive Shop Manager, Mr Fixit and boat captain in Costa Rica. Bob is the guy that can fix anything and can often be found tinkering on a reg in the repair room.

Director of Training

georgia course director staff profile picOur wonderful inhouse PADI Course Director and DSAT Tec Deep instructor Trainer. Georgia is from the UK and has been instructing in central America since 2004 and has also found her niche here at Oceans Unlimited and Go Pro Costa Rica. She runs all our professional and technical dive programs here at the center. She also has the tiring job of being mum to dive dog terror Pandora. James 'JT' Timney

Lead Instructor

JTprofile picturePADI Master Instructor and our lead instructor, JT has joined us for the stress free scuba life after retiring from the US Army after 26 years of stress in the military. Now adjusting to his Pura Vida lifestyle in Costa Rica, He is also a Disabled Diving Instructor and is looking forward to assisting us to become a Disabled Diver Dive Center.   He is also our certified Boy Scouts of America Scuba Diving Merit Badge Counselor.  When not wearing those hats  he is scuba diving the beautiful warm waters of Manuel Antonio on a regular basis!
Ileana Brenes

Office Manager

ileana profile pictureIleana started diving with Oceans Unlimited in 2009 when she did a DSD and was bitten by the “dive bug”. She steadily has worked her way up the PADI ladder and now has achieved her goal of PADI Assistant Instructor. You will find her running the main office and organizing trips and courses as well as divemastering and assisting on spanish courses.

 ashley dive instructor costa ricaAshley is our ECO instructor on the team and an avid conservationist and scuba diver. In addition to instructing at the dive shop she runs our REEF check program and marine conservation programs during the Divemaster internship.

vanessaVanessa is originally from Canada and one of the newest instructors on our team. She loves bringing her enthusiasm for scubadiving to all of her courses, especially to all of our new open waters and discover courses.

Melissa H - PADI Divemaster
melMelissa is one of our PADI Divemasters here at Oceans Unlimited. Originally from Canada she is loving the warm waters around Manuel Antonio and looking forward to working towards her instructor certification this season.

Tyler H - PADI Divemaster
tyler Tyler also hails from Canada and is on his way traveling around the world. He enjoys taking groups out on the local reef around Manuel Antonio and is also working his way towards his instructor certification later this month.

deco dogDive dog Deco likes to spend most of his day sleeping. This is a very important job and ensures that there is always a comfy place to put your feet. Can be found checking up on day to day dive activities and cooling off in the pool.


pandora profile pictureDon’t be fooled by the cute ears, this little madam likes to keep everyone on their toes. When not meeting and greeting she likes to spend her time sniffing out iguanas and bugs, as well as looking for bananas and watermelon to munch on.

The original Oceans Unlimited Dive Dog and to all of the classes and tours he supervised from his sleeping spot across the doorway. Whether sunbathing or letting students know it was time to finish, up , or just providing a comforting nudge during the IDC stressful exams, you will always be loved and remembered.
